The presentation will address the essential components of standards-based planned instruction as required by Chapter 4 and updates including ELP Standards and assessments and PA Common Core as they align to core instruction. Objectives
Participants will develop their understanding of:
essential components of standards-based planned instruction
alignment of English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards and assessments to core instruction with manipulation of the complex facets of the four domains, ELP levels, and grade clusters, as well as consideration of culturally responsive instruction
tools used for measuring the planned instruction objectives
alignment of materials and resources
Target Audience
Administrators, ESL Program Directors/Coordinators, Curriculum Developers, IU ESL/Title III Point Person, ESL Teachers, Special Education Teachers, ESL/Reading Coaches
Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual“s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.

Description: This one-hour webinar will address the importance of considering linguistic, cultural, academic, and experiential backgrounds that impact decision making regarding ELLs. There will be an extended activity after the webinar to share questions, resources, and implementation experiences.
